Hi! I'm Jocelyn, the lady behind the lens of Van Island Photography. I am dedicated to providing professional pet photography services from Victoria to Nanaimo B.C on Vancouver Island. I understand the importance of preserving the memories with your beloved pets and strive to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience for both you and your furry companions.

Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and being able to combine my love for animals and my passion for photography has been a dream come true. Vancouver Island has some of the most beautiful backdrops and scenery, which makes for some absolutely stunning photos.

SESSION INFO

My photography sessions are tailored to capture the unique personalities of your pets. I believe in creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere, allowing us to capture the true essence of your furry friends!

Step 1

Inquiry & Planning

Upon your initial inquiry, you will receive a Questionnaire that covers your vision for the shoot, your dog's needs, and other important details. Within 24-48 hours of completing Questionnaire, we will discuss your responses and location options to best suit your vision. If you have any concerns about your pup's behavior, we will address them at this and create a plan capture your pup comfortably.

Step 2

Photoshoot Day!

When we arrive, we'll take some time let your dog settle in and get used to the surroundings. Our photo session will be relaxed and enjoyable for your furry friend. I won't force your dog to do anything they're not comfortable with, instead, I'll guide you through some prompts to play with your dog and position them in certain areas while I capture the moment.

Step 3

Gallery Delivery

Your online gallery will be ready in 2-4 weeks, featuring timeless captures of your best friend. You can view your digital files and select your favorite images. I will provide extra images in your gallery to give you a wide range of options to choose from. You also have the option purchase additional images, at $25 per image.

Do you require a deposit?

I require a $50 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking.
What if my dog can't be off-leash?

Many of my sessions take place with the dog on leash! With the power of editing software and my many skills, editing out leashes (and most harnesses) is easy enough for me to do. You won't be able to tell that the leash was ever there!
What if my dog is fearful or reactive?

I have worked with many reactive and fearful dogs, and would be happy to discuss how we can work together prior to the photoshoot. I tend to not engage when meeting clients dogs as to keep any stress and excitability down.
Can I be in the photo with my dog?

Absolutely! I love capturing the bond between human and dog. You are more than welcome to join in some of the photos for some shots.
Does my dog need to be well behaved?

Usually the more well behaved a dog is, the smoother the photoshoot will go! However, I have worked with many dogs with different abilities and limits, and always end up with stunning photos. That being said, working on basic skills like sit and stay before our photoshoot and being aware of your dogs limits will help immensely! We will always discuss your dogs behaviors and limits in detail before the photoshoot, and I always try my best to pick locations best suited for your dogs needs (i.e., less distractions, away from other dogs/people).
When will I receive my photos?

You will receive your private online gallery 2 - 4 weeks after your photoshoot. This time frame can change depending on the current sessions I have booked. The reason for this time frame is due to the time and love that I put into editing each and every photo.
